Shives is broadly interested in intelligent transportation systems and applied machine learning. His research focuses on machine learning-based travel time prediction for urban bus transit. He has processed the crude GPS data obtained from buses running in Kandy, Sri Lanka, and developed algorithms to extract historical travel times, dwell times, and running times of buses. He is currently investigating a multi-model ensemble approach in real-time prediction of bus arrival time to successive downstream bus stops.
Shiveswarran Ratneswaran
Shiveswarran is a postgraduate student, currently reading an MSc degree (with a major component of research) at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University of Moratuwa. He earned his undergraduate degree in BSc (Hons) Engineering from the same university in 2021. He is also working as a research assistant at the DataSEARCH (Data Science, Engineering & Analytics Research Hub), a multidisciplinary research center at the University of Moratuwa.
